Recount of Elephant Toothpaste

Elephant Toothpaste
Yesterday LS1 and Room 5 went to the front field to see an elephant toothpaste experiment at 2’o clock. Miss Kirkpatrick invited her friends Mrs Davis and Miss Dutton to come along and make the Elephant Toothpaste experiment in front of us.

First they used a cylinder. Mrs Davis  chose two volunteers. Mrs put in hydrogen peroxide then put in a teaspoon of potassium iodide crystals. Then a volunteer squirts detergent in. Then it started to rumble then the mix blew out. I was terrified, I had the butterflies.

Then  Mrs Davis chose two new volunteers. (This time it was in a fizzy bottle) Mrs Davis poured 100 mls into the cylinder then put into the fizzy bottle. Then put the potassium iodide crystals in, and squirted the detergent in. When it exploded it started to burst up higher and higher! Then the fizzy bottle started to melt! “How could a bottle melt by foam touching it?” I thought to myself.

Then Mrs Davis went around with the melted bottle. When it touched it it felt hot, steamy and gooey. When the event was over some people went over to get a handful of foam. When the foam was of their hands. I saw that their hands started to get yellow!

Easter Holiday

Easter Holiday
In the Easter holidays my family and I went to Mangawhai Heads Camping Park. On the first day Dad, Anastasia and I went to the nearby beach and found pipis! When we came back to our tent I saw my cousin Crystal! Then we went to the playground. That night when I slept it was freezing!

The next morning I was awake first, I stepped on the grass, it felt like it was wet, but it wasn’t. It was just cold. That morning when everyone was awake we had bacon and eggs. After breakfast we played cricket. Uncle taught me how to bowl. Then when it was time for me to bowl. I tried my hardest and I did it! I was so proud of myself and also for Crystal because she hit the ball. Then Anastasia, Crystal and I went to the playground on the camp site and played surfers ( because it was at the beach) For lunch we had home made burgers and it was delicious! After lunch we went to an island across the camp site in an eight horse powered boat. When we got there we walked across the island and my feet got stuck in the sand! It was like quicksand.

When we were about to go I got to drive the boat back and it was amazing. When we went home I was very sad. I asked my parents to go back one time and they said yes.

Planning my Writing

Today Miss Paton taught us how to plan our writing. My plan is about a lie.

My Art Reflection

Reflecting on my Andy Warhol and Roy Lichtenstein themed portrait
Displaying DSC09648.JPG

1. Are you pleased with your Andy Warhol and Roy Lichtenstein themed portrait? why / why not?
Yes, because it pops out of the page

2. What did you find easy when you created your Pop Art portrait? The block lettering

3. What part did you find tricky when you were creating your portrait? -think about tracing round your face, outlining your face using a black marker pen, dabbing areas using the dye, dying the background, dotting your areas, colouring block areas and lettering. Block lettering

4. Who / What helped you when you were creating your Pop Art portrait?
Brianna, and Miss Paton

5. What would you do differently next time? Think about: tracing around your face, features on your face, dabbing the dye colours, colour choice, photograph, time management skills, dotting your paper, colouring in block areas, lettering.
I could do better on dabbing the dye, because it went all smudgy.

6. What frustrated you when you created your Andy Warhol  and Roy Lichtenstein themed art work? I got frustrated with the dye / vivid ink running out.

Easter Recount

Easter Recount

Who: Ls1, Miss Paton
When: Tuesday morning
Why: because it was Easter
Where:Ls1

On Tuesday morning Group B made chocolates with Miss Paton in Ls1. We made chocolates, because it was Easter! We split up in a group of 4 people. When the water was boiling, When the water was boiled Miss Paton put the hot water into a pot. Next she placed a plate on top. After that she put chocolate buttons on top of the plate. When the chocolate was  almost melted the lovely aroma went up my nose. When all the chocolate was melted there was a strong creamy smell around the Learning Space. Then we had to pour the runny chocolate into the moulds. The chocolate splattered everywhere! When all the chocolate was finished and all the moulds were full, someone from each group had to get the group’s tray, and put it into the hall kitchen’s fridge. Then we waited till the next day. When we took them out of the fridge my group couldn't find our chocolates! At least we found some spare chocolates. “Phew,” I said.  When I plopped the chocolate in my mouth, it was so creamy.

How to Make Easter Eggs

Today we had to make a procedure about how to make Easter eggs. I learnt an easy way how to make Easter eggs.
